WHERE TO PARTY IN BANGKOK AFTER 2 A.M?
So, you had a late dinner and didn’t get out to the clubs and bars of Bangkok until nearly midnight. By 1:30 am, you have started to mingle, dance a bit, and are overall having a helluva good time. Fifteen minutes later, the music slows and the lights come on. You were just getting started and now staff is telling you that it’s time to leave. Feeling disappointed, you and you’re friends are not ready to tuck into bed; you all want some more. Fortunately, Bangkok has several after hours nightclubs that stay open until the sun comes up, or at least right before. These venues may change their name every now and then and will vary in music, crowd, and overall vibe, but are all great places to continue to let go and have fun.Mixx

Shock 39

A popular afterhours club for the Sukhumvit crowd, it boasts a bumping sound system, minimal décor, and a feast of lights. Any brave soul may hop up on the raised dance floor to give a show for all. For those seeking some privacy, VIP areas are available. All in all, it is one of the better, less naughty-afterhours clubs.

WIP 168

Nestled deep in the streets of Thong Lor, and a bit hard to find, lay WIP 168. An ‘underground’ club that is immensely popular with the 20 something Thai crowd; however, expats do occasionally visit-if they can manage to find the place. The place gets busy after 2 am and serves premium spirits, beers, and hookahs. Elaborately decorated with chandeliers and roman style artwork, it is a place which you will want to dress up for; which means no shorts and no sandals.

Wong’s Place

Opening in 1987 in what used to be the backpacker hangout; Wong’s Place is still going strong and has not lost its appeasing charm. The interior walls are decorated in pictures of the Wong devotees with outdated furniture scattered throughout. Evan amidst the smoky, dusty, tiny quarters, it is an afterhours bar that is full of interesting people and stories. Best of all it doesn’t close until the last patron is ready to walk out. A true Bangkok legend that is not to be missed.
